Hunts Mind’s Mission Statement

Ratified by the Board of Trustees at Hunts Mind’s AGM on 25th November 2010

Our Mission

Our mission is to support people who experience mental ill health to take control of their lives through the provision of a range of services and opportunities that promote independence and choice.

Who are our services for?

We provide services for adults of working age who live in Huntingdonshire who experience mental distress and ill health.

Our Values

Hunts Mind’s work is underpinned by the following values:

  • We believe everyone has potential and we seek to help people recognise their potential by providing services that empower people rather than create dependency.
  • We believe that people who experience mental ill health or distress should have their voice heard in order to shape the way services are monitored, developed and delivered.
  • We will challenge the stigma associated with mental ill health in any form and we will promote positive messages through training, media articles and community events.
  • We believe in equality and fair access to our services and ordinary community activities for everyone in our community. We aim to ensure that our services are accessible and relevant to the communities we serve.
  • We will ensure that innovation, creativity and evidenced based practice underpin our service developments.
  • We are a Mindful Employer and believe that the wellbeing of our staff is important if they are to deliver high quality mental health services.
  • We will participate in local, regional and national forums to influence policy, strategy, service development and research.
  • We will not accept funding from organisations that are not compatible with our values.

Our Aims

  • To put the people who use our various services at the heart of all we do.
  • To provide Recovery orientated services that are user led, that encourage social inclusion and promote independence.
  • To enhance the quality of life and mental and physical wellbeing of people who experience mental ill health through the provision of our services and our approach to mental ill health as illustrated by our Values.
  • To support individuals to maintain and develop their social networks and family relationships
  • To address need in a variety of ways to give people choice and minimise dependency.
  • To provide services that are relevant and accessible to all those in the communities we serve to ensure equality of opportunity to people regardless of gender and gender identity, race, sexual orientation, religion or belief and disability. However, our services are age specific.
  • We will seek funding streams from Commissioners and grant giving bodies to enable us to provide the services people need.

Working in partnership

Hunts Mind is part of a network of services that support people who are suffering from mental ill health who might also be socially excluded. These include GPs, NHS Mental Health Services, other third sector organisations, the District Council, the County Council and community groups.
