Our Mission
Hunts Mind believes all people have potential. Together with their help and consent we want to transform the lives of those who have been affected by mental distress.
Who We Work With
Hunts Mind will work with individuals who experience mental distress. This currently equates to one in six of our population. We are especially interested in people from marginalised groups and those who are socially excluded.
Our Aim
To promote quality mental health services that are service user led and focused on enabled empowerment.
Our Objectives
- To promote the central importance of user involvement to the development and delivery of services.
- To enhance the social life of individuals suffering from mental distress.
- To offer service users choice.
- To ensure that people from Black and Ethnic Minorities feel comfortable and safe using Hunts Mind services.
- To provide services that can work with people who have disengaged or been excluded from services such as those with a Borderline Personality Disorder Diagnosis.
- To build lasting networks and alliances between both statutory and Voluntary Agencies.
- To ensure innovation and creativity underpin our service development.
- To identify negative attitudes towards people with mental health difficulties in order to promote anti stigma and anti discrimination.
Our Values
The following principles are derived from the ideas that Hunts Mind is a creative and challenging organisation. We are committed to the service user voice and experience thus the following statements highlight what underpins both our integrity and approach within the mental health arena.
- Empowerment rather than dependency is the key to people living rewarding lives.
- People have potential but sometimes only if it is recognised.
- Hunts Mind will not financially depend on funding organisations that jeopardise or negatively affect an individual who suffers from mental ill health.
- The combination of creativity and innovation to promote quality services will not be at the detriment of service users needs. Hunts Mind will act responsibly when developing services.
- Hunts Mind will endeavour to affect the worlds of policy and research at either a local, regional or national level where appropriate.
- Hunts Mind is not solely responsible for an individual’s life and will work collaboratively with other agencies to support the whole person.
- Hunts Mind will speak out against publicised opinions which promote stigma and discrimination to those suffering from mental distress.
